2019 Summer League - Open Shooting

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club in Long Lake will be holding open trap shooting and their Summer Trap League on Monday evenings at 6 PM. Open trap shooting has already begun and will continue on Monday nights at 6 PM through September.  League officially begins Monday, June 3rd and runs for 10 weeks. The League is comprised of 3, 4 or 5-person teams shooting a handicap system. You do not need to have a team to join as the Big 4+ will match you up.  Membership is not required, but appreciated.  Youths 12 - 17 who have completed a Hunters Education course and are club members may shoot two rounds each week for free.  For more information contact JoAnne at 715-674-2020 or visit www.big4sportsmansclub.com.

2019 High School Shoot

The Big 4+ was proud to again have the high school teams from Crandon, Florence, Laona, Mercer, Phelps and Three Lakes hold their conference shoot on May 10-11, 2019.  These are a great group of students and the club appreciates how well mannered these young adult are!  Eighty-one (81) shooters said pull to over 8,100 clay pigeons while coaches, parents and visitors watched on a beautiful, sunny day in the north woods! 

Lewis Shoot Results from April 27, 2019

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club held their annual spring 50-bird lewis shoot at their clubhouse in Long Lake on 
Saturday, April 27. Cold wintry weather hampered attendance, but 21 brave souls accepted the challenge.  
The shoot paid out 5 classes and various optional categories for cash amounts. Ties were broken by 
sudden-death shoot offs. 

The class winners and their scores were Bill Kramer, Lena with 50, Ed Borske, Alvin with a 47, Andy Favour, 
Suamico with 42, Tyler Niehaus, Florence with 38, and Tom Prebost, Green Bay with 36.  There was also a 
consolation prize for scores 35 and under. Ben Niehaus from Florence took home the prize.  Lewis Class 
shooters could also enter for High gun, Laidies High gun, and 25 on each trap. Options were broken by 
sudden-death shoot offs.  Ed Borske took 25 straight on traps one and two, and Bill Kramer was high gun. 
Josie McHugh from Newald took the Ladies High Gun prize.  

The club's next Lewis Event will be held during the annual membership picnic on July 20, 2019, and the

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club will hold their annual spring trap shoot at their clubhouse on Settlement Road in Long Lake on Saturday, April 27. There will be two events, a 50-Bird Lewis shoot and a meat shoot. Both events begin at 8 AM. Those shooting the 50-Bird shoot must be registered by noon and will compete for cash prizes. Those shooting the meat shoot do not need to register and can arrive at any time during the day. Food and beverages will be available and everyone is welcome. 

Sept 15 2018 Fall Lewis Shoot Results

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club held their annual autumn trap shoot at their clubhouse in Long Lake on Saturday, September 15. There were 2 events, a 50-Bird Lewis Class shoot and meat shoots. Shooters enjoyed a beautiful sunny fall day.  There were 39 entries in the 50-Bird Lewis shoot. The shoot paid out 5 classes, with the winner of each class receiving $54.  Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs. The class winners and their scores were Mark McHugh (Newald) with 50, LeRoy Dorzok (Tipler) with 48, Bill Kramer (Lena) with 47, Bill Simonar (Denmark) with 44 and Dan Vertz (DePere) with 40. There was also a consolation prize for scores under 35.  Tom Prevost and Larry Larson split the $40 purse.  Lewis Class shooters could also enter the Options competitions.  Each option paid out $48 after a successful shoot off.  Ed Borske (Alvin) won 25 on Trap 1 and High Gun, and Bill Simonar (Denmark) won 25 on Trap 2.  Kayla McHugh (Newald) won the Ladies High Gun Purse.  Congratulations to all the winners.

2018-19 General Membership Meeting and Election of Officers Notice

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club will hold their election of officers at their annual general membership meeting on Tuesday, October 9.  One board of  director position will be on the roster.  The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Big 4+ Clubhouse in Long Lake, WI.  Any questions can be directed to JoAnne Smith, Treasurer, at 715-674-2020.

WTU Banquet - Oct 20 2018

The Whitetails Unlimited Big 4+ Chapter Banquet will be held on Saturday, October 20, at Keyes Peak Ski Lodge, 4960 State Highway 101, Florence, WI.  This special event will feature an a Buffet dinner, auction, and prizes with a wide array of products such as firearms, outfitter packages, hunting and outdoor-related equipment, artwork, and collectibles only available at WTU events.  A grant from this event will go toward local conservation projects that uphold WTU's mission.

The social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with a buffet dinner at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $45 each, or $25 for juniors 15 and under.  Ticket order deadline is October 13.  Tickets will not be sold at the door.

2018 Summer League Results

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club wrapped up their summer trap league with a fish fry/potluck party and trap shoot in their clubhouse in Long Lake on Monday evening, August 13. The winning team was Oh! Darn!, comprised of  Mark McHugh (Newald),  JoAnne Smith (Tipler), Gary Schadrie (Tipler), and Ed Borske (Alvin).  Other teams participating in order of rank from high to low were Tipler Service Center, Borske Rabble and Josie's Barbershop.  Ed Borske won Top Gun with a 23.8 average shot at various yardages. The league ran for ten weeks, beginning the Monday after Memorial Day.

The Big 4+ will continue to have open trap shooting on Monday evenings at 6 PM. through the end of September and possibly into October, weather permitting.   The public is welcome. For more information visit www.big4sportsmansclub.com or call JoAnne Smith at 715-674-2020.

LEWIS SHOOT - RESULTS - 7/21/18

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club held their annual membership picnic under beautiful skies at their clubhouse in Long Lake on Saturday, July 21. About 80-90 people turned out to enjoy a day of trap shooting, over $3,700 in raffles and good food.

Winners of the Big 4+'s annual raffle were drawn at 4 PM.  Numerous other prizes donated by area businesses and national manufacturers were also raffled off throughout the day.

The 50-Bird Lewis Shoot had 48 entries this year and paid out 5 classes, with each class winning $80. Shooters were allowed two entries.  Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs. The winners and their scores were: Russ Bouck (Amhurst Junction) with 50, Mark McHugh (Newald) with 47, Bill Kramer (Lena)) with 44, Dan Traxler (Oshkosh) with 42 and Harry Wellhouse (Two Rivers) with 39. A consolation shoot was also held, the winner was Buck Brede for $57.  (Lewis class shooters could also play options, which paid $90 each. Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs. Ed Borske (Alvin) won 25 straight on traps 1 and 2.  Russ Bouck (Amhurst Junction) was High Gun, and Rea Dorzok (New Holstein) won the new Ladies High Gun category.   Numerous steak, bacon and chicken competitions were held resulting in spirited shoot offs.

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club extends their thanks to all who helped make this year's picnic a success. A special thanks goes to the volunteer workers and also the businesses who donated prizes and help to sell raffle tickets.
