Area High School Conference Shoot

Saturday May 19th, the Crandon, Laona, Phelps and Three Lakes trap teams will compete in their 100 target conference shoot off at the Big 4+ Sportsman's Club in Long Lake.  These four teams are part of NWCTC ( Northern Wisconsin Clay Target Conference ) Eastern Division within the SSSF (Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation).   Teams within each conference gather at the end of the season to compete against one another in a 100 target shoot off.

During the regular weekly conference competitions, teams compete virtually.  Meaning they shoot at their home facility and all scores are entered online.  At the end of each shooting week, scores and standing are then posted.   This competition gives the athletes a chance to meet the individuals they have been shooting against every week.

Teams will be shooting early morning and continue through the day.  Spectators are welcome to come and watch or cheer their local teams on.  

League 2018

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club in Long Lake will be holding open trap shooting and their Summer Trap League on Monday evenings at 6 PM. Open trap shooting has already begun and will continue on Monday nights at 6 PMthrough September.  League officially begins June 4th and runs for 10 weeks. The League is comprised of 3, 4 or 5-person teams shooting a handicap system. You do not need to have a team to join as the Big 4+ will match you up.  Membership is not required, but appreciated.  Youths 12 - 17 who have completed a Hunters Education course and are club members may shoot two rounds each week for free.  For more information contact JoAnne at 715-674-2020 or visit www.big4sportsmansclub.com.

Autumn Lewis Shoot Results

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club held their annual autumn trap shoot at their clubhouse in Long Lake on Saturday, Sept 23. There were 2 events, a 50-Bird Lewis Class shoot and a merchandise shoot.  The beautiful weather enticed shooters to come out and enjoy a beautiful day.  There were 25 entries in the 50-Bird shoot. The shoot paid out 5 classes.  Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs. Class A was won by Ed Borske (Alvin), Class B Mark McHugh (Newald), Class C Sue Boulk (Amherst Junction), Class D Andy Farvour (Lena) and Class E Gary Schadrie (Tipler). There was also a consolation prize, won by Jeff Vandenheuvel (Tipler) for scores 35 and under.  Lewis Class shooters could also enter for High gun, Long Run and 25 on each trap.Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs.  Ed Borske of Alvin took the Long Run and 25 on Trap 2 options.  Mark McHugh of Newald claimed the 25 on Trap 1 and Hi Gun options. 

2017-18 Election Results

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club held their election of officers at their annual meeting at their clubhouse in Long Lake on October 10. The following officers were elected: LeRoy Dorzok (Tipler) as president, Gary Schadrie  (Tipler) as vice president, JoAnne Smith (Tipler) as treasurer and Amanda Lambert (Tripler) as secretary.

Ed Borske (Alvin) and Carol Schadrie (Tipler) will continue in their three-year terms as directors; and Laura McHugh (Newald) was elected to a new term as Board of Director.
The club extended their thanks to Tina Sonkowsky for her service as past secretary and to all officers and board memebers for their hard work over the past year.
 

General Membership & Election Meeting

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club will hold their election of officers at their annual general membership meeting on Tuesday, October 10.  The president and one board of director position will be on the roster.  The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Big 4+ Clubhouse in Long Lake, WI.  Any questions can be directed to JoAnne Smith, Treasurer, at 715-674-2020.

 

Upcoming 2017 Fall Lewis/Meat Shoot

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club will hold their annual autumn trap shoot at their clubhouse on Settlement Road in Long Lake on Saturday, September 23. There will be two events, a 50-Bird Lewis shoot and a meat shoot. Both events begin at 8 AM. Those shooting the 50-Bird shoot must be registered by noon and will compete for cash prizes. Those shooting the meat shoot do not need to register and can arrive at any time during the day. Food and beverages will be available and everyone is welcome. 2017 Whitetails Unlimited Banquet

The Whitetails Unlimited Big 4+ Chapter Banquet will be held on Saturday, October 14, at Keyes Peak Ski Lodge, 4960 State Highway 101, Florence, WI.  This special event will feature an a Buffet dinner, auction, and prizes with a wide array of products such as firearms, outfitter packages, hunting and outdoor-related equipment, artwork, and collectibles only available at WTU events.  A grant from this event will go toward local conservation projects that uphold WTU's mission.

The social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with the all new buffet dinner at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $45 each, or $25 for juniors 15 and under.  Ticket order deadline is October 7.  Tickets will not be sold at the door.

2017 Summer League Results

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club wrapped up their summer trap league with a fish fry/potluck party and trap shoot in their clubhouse in Long Lake on Monday evening, August 14. The winning team was Oh! Darn!, comprised of  Mark McHugh (Newald),  JoAnne Smith (Tipler), Steven Smith (Tipler), and Ed Borske (Alvin).  Other teams participating in order of rank from high to low were Tipler Service Center, Tipler Red Deer and The Good Ole Boys.  Ed Borske won Top Gun with a 24.0 average shot at various yardages. The league runs for ten weeks, beginning the Monday after Memorial Day.

2017 Membership Picnic & Lewis Shoot Results

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club held their annual membership picnic under beautiful skies at their clubhouse in Long Lake on Saturday, July 22. About 80 people turned out to enjoy a day of trap shooting, over $4,200 in raffles and good food.

Winners of the Big 4+'s annual raffle were drawn at 4 PM.  Numerous other prizes donated by area businesses and national manufacturers were also raffled off throughout the day.

The 50-Bird Lewis Shoot had 48 entries this year and paid out 5 classes, with each class winning $67. Shooters were allowed two entries.  Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs. The winners and their scores were: Ed Borske (Alvin) with 50, Buddy Schaut (Mountain) with 48, Mark McHugh (Newald) with 46,Colt Tittl (Long Lake) with 45 and Harry Wellhouse (Two Rivers) with 41. A consolation shoot was also held, the winner was Penny Traxler (Oshkosh) for $48.  (Lewis class shooters could also play options, which paid $40 each. Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs. Dick Helbach (Waupaca) won 25 straight on trap 1 and Ed Borske (Alvin) won 25 straight on trap 2.  Ed Borske also won High Gun and Long Run.  Numerous steak, bacon and chicken competitions were held resulting in spirited shoot offs.

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club extends their thanks to all who helped make this year's picnic a success. A special thanks goes to the volunteer workers and also the businesses who donated prizes and help to sell raffle tickets.
