The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club concluded their spring trap league with a
potluck party and trap shoot at their clubhouse in Long Lake on Monday
evening, April 29. The league shot a hunt-and-cover format with 2-man
teams. A possible 400 targets were shot at distances ranging from 18 to
26 yards. Ed Borske (Alvin) and Jaden Streu (Long Lake) took first place
with 380 targets broken. Borske and Streu shot as two teams on the
league and also came in second with 374 targets broken. Gary Schadrie
(Tipler) and Mary Lamers (Tipler) came in third with 369 targets broken.
Ed Borske won the contest for Top Gun with 181 out of his 200 targets
broken.
The Big 4+ will continue to have open shooting on Monday
evenings at 6 PM until October. Summer league will begin the first week
of June and run for 10 weeks. Warm up for summer league will be at 6 PM
on Memorial Day. To encourage kids to shoot, the Big 4+ will again be
providing up to 50 targets and 50 shot shells free each Monday evening
to kids 17 and under with a Hunters Education certificate. For more

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club held their annual spring trap shoot at their
clubhouse in Long Lake on Saturday, April 20. There were 2 events, a
50-Bird Lewis Class shoot and a meat shoot. Despite the near record cold
and snow still on the ground, there were 44 entries in the 50-Bird
shoot. The shoot paid out 5 classes and the winner of each class won
$61.60. Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot-offs. A nasty wind
prevented even the best shooters from breaking all 50 targets, but there
will still some pretty good scores. The class winners and their scores
were: Bernie Behlke (Deerbrook) with 49, Tim Kalata (Argonne) with 46,
Gary Schadrie (Tipler) with 44, John Brown (Dunbar) with 42 and Jaden
Streu (Long Lake) with 40. There was also a consolation prize for scores
under 38. Dennis VanOoyden (Antigo) survived a 5-string shoot-off to
win $44. Lewis Class shooters could also enter for High Gun, Long Run
and 25-Straight on each trap, with ties being broken by sudden-death
shoot-offs. Ed Borske (Alvin) won all of them, winning a total of $248.

At their February monthly meeting, the Board of the Big 4+ elected Carol Schadrie to fill the unexpired director term recently vacated by Nancy Modschiedler. The Board expressed its appreciation for Nancy's years of service.

The Big 4+ Sportsman’s Club held the election of
officers at their annual meeting at their clubhouse in Long Lake on Tuesday, October
9. The following officers were elected: Gary Schadrie (Tipler) as president,
JoAnne Smith (Tipler) as vice president, incumbent Ed Borske (Alvin) as
secretary, incumbent Mary Lou Dorzok (Tipler) as treasurer and incumbent Harry
Tremmel (Newald) as director. LeRoy Dorzok and Nancy Modschiedler continue to
serve in their unexpired terms as directors.

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club held their annual autumn trap shoot at their clubhouse in Long Lake on Saturday, September 15. There were two events, a 50-Bird Lewis Class shoot and a meat shoot. The 50-Bird shoot had 65 entries and paid out 5 classes. Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot-offs and the winner of each class won $91. The class winners and their scores were: Bill Simonar (Demark) with 50, Ed Borske (Alvin) with 48, Tim Kalata (Argonne) with 46, Sam Kalata (Argonne) with 44 and Steve Smith (Tipler) with 41. There was also a consolation prize for scores under 36. Josie McHugh (Newald) survived a 5-string shoot-off to win $65. Lewis Class shooters could also enter for High Gun, Long Run and 25-Straight, with ties being broken by sudden-death shoot-offs. Bill Simonar won $92 each for High Gun, 25-Straight on Trap 1 and 25-Straight on Trap 2. Dennis Kozlowski won $92 for Long Run. The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club concluded their summer trap league with a potluck party and trap shoot at their clubhouse in Long Lake on Monday evening, August 13. The winning team was Dunbar Sportsmans Club, comprised of Mark Grandaw, Brian DenBoer, John Brown and Earl Plemel (all of Dunbar). Other teams participating in order of rank from high to low were Good Old Boys, Tipler Red Deer, Tipler Service, Bazinga and Dorzok Realty. Ed Borske (Alvin) won Top Gun with a 23.7 average shot at various yardages.
The Big 4+ will continue to have open trap shooting on Monday evenings. Doubles League will begin August 27 and run for 5 weeks, shooting each Monday evening. |

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club held their annual membership picnic at their clubhouse in Long Lake on Saturday, July 21. Nearly 100 people turned out to enjoy of day of numerous raffles, spirited trap shooting and plenty of good food.
Winners of the Big 4+'s annual raffle were drawn at 4 PM. Garry Glime (Oneida) won the first prize, a Stevens 30-06 bolt action rifle. John Oberst (Fond du Lac) won the second prize, a 20-gauge single-shot shotgun donated by Gary and Carol Schadrie. Gary Schadrie won the third prize, 2 face cords of split firewood donated by Ed Borske. Dick Helbach (Waupaca) won the 4th prize, a tank top propane heater donated by Bob Hartenberger. Ed Borske (Alvin) won the 5th prize, $50 cash. Numerous other raffles were conducted throughout the day for a variety of prizes donated by area businesses and members.
The 50-Bird Lewis Class trap shoot had 60 entries this year and paid out 5 classes, with the winner of each class receiving $84. Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot-offs.The winners and their scores were: Dick Helbach (Waupaca) with 50, Mel Reige (Watertown) with 48, Mark McHugh (Newald) with 46, Laura McHugh (Newald) with 44 and Peggy Soldner (Reeseville) with 40. Lewis class shooters could also play options. The options paid $82 each and ties were broken by sudden-death shoot-offs. The winners were Mel Reige for 25-straight on Trap 1, Ed Borske for 25-straight on Trap 2, Bob Cleereman (Newald) for High Gun and Dick Helbach for Long Run. The consolation prize of $60 for novice shooters was won by Jenny Ninmer (Kiel). In the meat shoots a variety of steaks, brats, bacon, etc. were won throughout the day.
The Big 4+ wishes to thank all those who partipated in this year's picnic and helped make it a success, with a special thanks to those who volunteered and to the many area businesses and members who helped sell raffle tickets and donated prizes.

A possible 800 targets were shot at distances ranging from 18 to 26 yards. Ed Borkse (Alvin) and Mary Lou Dorzok (Tipler) took first place with 761 targets broken. Two teams tied for second place with 719 targets. One team was Marty Lamers (Tipler) and Skip Ritchie (Long Lake) and the other team was LeRoy Dorzok (Tipler) and Mike Smith (Tipler). Gary Schadrie (Tipler) and Jaden Streu (Long Lake) came in fourth with 709 targets broken. Ed Borske won Top Gun with 376 out of 400 targets broken. |

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club held their annual spring trap shoot at their clubhouse in Long Lake on Saturday, April 21. There were two events, a 100-Bird Lewis Class shoot and a meat shoot. The 100-Bird shoot had 41 entries and paid out 5 classes. Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot-offs and the winner of each class won $114.80. The class winners and their scores were: Larry Heinrichs (Wisconsin Rapids) with 98, LeRoy Dorzok (Tipler) with 95, Bill Kramer (Lena) with 92, Mike Smith (Tipler) with 88 and Buddy Schaut (Mountain) with 84. There was also a consolation prize for scores under 76; Barry Thiel (Elcho) survived a 5-string shoot-off to win $41. Lewis Class shooters could also enter for High Gun, Long Run and 50-straight, with ties being broken by sudden-death shoot-offs. Larry Heinrichs won $48 for his High Gun score of 98 and he also won $48 for his Long Run of 49. There were no 50-straights shot, so the prizes were paid for 49-straight with each shooter winning $48. Bill Kramer won First-49, Ed Borske (Alvin) won Middle-49 and Larry Heinrichs won Last-49.
