2014 Annual Membership Picnic a Huge Success

The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club held our annual membership picnic at the clubhouse in Long Lake on Saturday, July 19. Over 100 people turned out to enjoy a day of trap shooting, raffles and good food.

Winner of the Big 4+'s annual raffle were drawn at 4 PM. Jennifer Stairs (Crystal Falls) won the first prize, a Savage Bolt action Axis .270 Win rifle. Gail Dorzok (Kewaskum) won the second prize, 2 face cords of firewood donated by Ed Borske (Alvin). Stewart Schaal (Lakewood) won the third prize, a Dog House Portable blind and a Little Buddy heater, donated by Ed Borske. Dean Sprangers (DePere) won the fourth prize, $50 cash. Dave Fritz Lepow (Long Lake) won the fifth prize, $50 cash. Numerous other prizes donated by area businesses and national manufacturers were also raffled off throughout the day.

The 50-Bird Lewis Shoot had 70 entries this year and paid out 5 classes, with each class winning $98. Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs. The winners and their scores were: Ed Borske with 50, Barry Halsey (Kimberly) with 47, Russ Bouck (Amherst Junction) with 45, Russ Nitsch (Sheboygan) with 44 and Mark McHugh (Newald) with 42. Lewis class shooters could also play options, which paid $114 each. Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs. Ed Borske won $114 each for 25 on Trap 2, High Gun and Long Run. Jaden Streu (Long Lake) won $114 for 25 on Trap 1. The consolation prize of $70 was won by Josie McHugh (Newald). In the meat shoots, numerous steaks and bacon were shot for with many contests resulting in spirited shoot offs.

The Big 4+ extends our thanks to all who helped make this year's picnic a success. A special thanks goes to the volunteer workers and also the businesses who donated prizes and helped to sell raffle tickets.
