The Big 4+ Sportsman's Club held their annual membership picnic at their clubhouse in Long Lake on Saturday, July 16. In spite of the extremely hot and humid weather, over 100 people braved the heat to enjoy plenty of good food, trap shooting and raffles. (Thank goodness for our pavilion and tents!)

Winners of the Big 4+'s annual raffle were drawn at 4 PM. Ralph Holterman (Fond du Lac) won the first prize, a Stevens 30-06 bolt action rifle. Garry Glime (Oneida) won the second prize, an Ameristep Stack House Blind donated by Gary and Carol Schadrie. Fran  Modschiedler (Tipler) won the third prize, 2 face cords of firewood donated by Ed Borske. Nancy Modschiedler (Tipler) won the fourth prize, a Mr. Heater Big Buddy. Fran and Nancy Modschiedler also won the fifth prize, $50 cash. Numerous other raffles were conducted throughout the day for a variety of prizes donated by area businesses and members.

The 50-Bird Lewis Class trap shoot had 65 entries this year and paid out 5 classes, with the winner of each class receiving $91. Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs. The winners and their scores were: Dick Helbach (Waupaca) with 50, Russ Bouck (Amherst Junction) with 48, Mark McHugh (Newald) with 46, Sue Bouck (Amherst Junction) with 44, and Sue Bolyard (Kenosha) with 41. Lewis Class shooters could also play the optional purses. The options paid $94 each and ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs. The winners were John Schultz (Salem) for 25-straight on Trap 1, Ed Borske (Alvin) for 25-straight on Trap 2, Dick Helbach for High Gun and Gary Verlen (Kenosha) for Long Run. The consolation prize of $65 was won by Vicki Bolyard (Burlington). In the meat shoots, shooters won a variety of steaks, bacon, etc. throughout the day.

The Big 4+ wishes to thank all those who participated in this year’s picnic and helped make it a success, with a special thanks to those who volunteered and to the many area businesses and members who helped sell raffle tickets and donated prizes
