LEAGUES AND OPEN SHOOTING
 
 
SPRING TRAP LEAGUE AND OPEN SHOOTING
  • Monday evenings at 6 PM
  • 2-man teams with Hunt and Cover format at varied yardage
  • Warm up night is last Monday in February
  • League starts the first Monday in March and runs for 8 weeks
  • League party the Monday after League
 
SUMMER TRAP LEAGUE AND OPEN SHOOTING 
  • Monday evenings at 6 PM
  • 3, 4 or 5-man teams with handicap yardage
  • Warm up night is last Monday in May
  • League starts the first Monday in June and runs for 10 weeks
  • League party the Monday after League
 
DOUBLES TRAP LEAGUE AND OPEN SHOOTING
  • Monday evenings at 6 PM
  • No teams - Individual competition
  • Begins after Summer League ends
  • Shoot six times at 16 yds
  • Open shooting will continue as long as shooters are interested
 
YOUTH SHOOTING PROGRAM
 
To promote the shooting sports, the Big 4+ provides youths 17 or younger with an opportunity to shoot for free. The club will provide up to 50 targets and shells to shoot trap league or open trap on Monday evenings to youths with a Hunters Education certificate.

Q: What is a Lewis shoot?

 

A: A Lewis shoot is a system that was devised to give average shooters a chance to win. After all shooters have finished, their scores are listed from high to low and divided into classes. For example, if there are 75 shooters and 5 classes, then a line is drawn every 15 scores starting at the bottom – or if there are 75 shooters and 4 classes, then a line is drawn every 19 scores starting at the bottom. The shooters at the head of each class are eligible to win. (Note: This is a simplified explanation.)
